The long startup time is a function of many applications and processes are automatically loaded when you turn on your computer. In Past version of windows, all processes and devices were loaded before the windows interface was displayed. The Windows desktop will not appear until all processes had been loaded into memory. Fast boot and Resume is the essential processes are loaded at initial startup. Windows Vista has high speed process with the new Fast Boot and Resume feature.
After the initial starting processes are loaded, the windows interface is automatically displayed. This lets the user see the windows welcome screen much more than was possible in previous version of windows. After the Windows desktop appears, lower priority processes are loaded in the background, while the user works. In Windows desktop will not appear until all processes had been loaded into memory.
